 Pewter Bathroom Wall Tiles,

 Best in Category (Architectural Hardware)

 Overall Best in Show

'Designed by student Ella McIntosh (Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College), the tiles are three-dimensional, multi-functional items that look as if they are peeling from the wall. They fix onto existing tiles with super-strength Velcro and can be used as towel hooks or shelves for toothbrushes and razors. The finish is sleek, with a clean, mirrored effect.

Sebastian Conran said, "If I could have designed anything in this exhibition, I wish it could have been these tiles. They are a particularly wonderful invention which we all loved so much."

The judges consider design standard, innovation, and potential consumer appeal. Ella's bathroom tiles were felt to meet the criteria so exceptionally
that the judges unanimously decided to award the piece a new prize of 'best in show'.
